International audience; Over the past 20 years, the word "minerality" has been increasingly used in the description of wines. However, a precise definition of the concept of minerality appears to be inexistent, and no consensual meaning, even among wine professionals, can be identified. Perception of mineral character in Sauvignon blanc wine: inter-individual differences

The aim of the work described in this article was to delineate the nature of perceived minerality in Sauvignon wine, specifically its sensorial reality for experienced wine professionals from France and New Zealand. Semantic and perceptive organisation of Sauvignon blanc wine characteristics: Influence of Expertise.

Abstract The influence of expertise on hierarchical organisation of knowledge about Sauvignon blanc wine sensory properties was investigated. Sixteen wine professionals (‘experts’) and 16 wine consumers in New Zealand organised 67 experimenter-provided descriptors of Sauvignon blanc wine by building an hierarchical tree with the sensory properties (see Urdapilleta, Giboreau, Manetta, Houix, & Richard, 2006 ).
